“Deep red colour with a mocha nose and hint of bay leaf. Plum, raspberry and subtle oak flavours with a long balanced finish and fine lingering tannins.”
With almost perfect growing conditions, 2019 is thought to be one of the best Hunter Valley vintages in living memory. The fruit was hand picked from old vineyards before fermentation occurred in small open fermenters. “The Wild One” was then pressed off in a wooden basket press before being matured in French oak puncheons for 13 months. It was then hand-blended to give a final mix of 70% Shiraz and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine can be enjoyed young or with correct storage will continue to develop complexity in the bottle for the next 10+ years.
